While you are pregnant, it’s a good idea to avoid hot tubs, especially during the first trimester. Why is it not recommended?
Heat exposure and birth defects.
A body temperature higher than 102 F (39 C) degrees may be harmful for your baby.
You may put your health at risk if you stay in a hot tub.
Infections.
Even if regularly cleaned, hot tubs can be a breeding ground for microorganisms that
cause bacterial, viral or yeast infections. Remember that in pregnancy, your immune
system is naturally suppressed.
If hot tubs are still hard to resist, try warm baths instead, which are equally relaxing. Just regulate it to a comfortable temperature that is not too hot.
