Toxicosis is generally just a fancy or even frightening term for nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. It is not a commonly used reference for the early symptoms of pregnancy, like morning sickness and dizziness.
Toxicosis, by definition, is a condition that results from poisoning. However, health care providers do not use this term as it can get misleading. Your body might be naturally repulsed by some food, labeling them as “poisons”.
This mechanism is your body’s natural way of telling you that you do not need these substances. Some of these may even be harmful to your baby. The next time you vomit, just know that your body is trying to rid you of something it does not want.
During the early toxicity is very important to eat small, frequent meals. If you are unable to eat or drink anything during 6 hours - call your doctor.
