Caesarean section or C-section is the surgery to deliver a baby. It is the next and only option if vaginal birth is impossible. Some mothers cringe at the thought, but when is C-section really necessary?
Maternal indications:
1.
Heart problems.
Your obstetrician may not want you to experience active labor to prevent your heart
from getting overworked.
2.
Abnormal labor.
If labor is not progressing, C-section is the only way to deliver your baby.
Fetal indications:
1.
Malpresentation.
If your baby is presenting bottom or shoulder-first, a vaginal delivery may be
impossible.
2.
Distress.
If the heartbeat slows down because of cord coil or infection, C-section will ensure
a safer and faster delivery.
