Prenatal massage
Prenatal massage

Getting a massage seems like a good idea at this point in pregnancy. With all the aches and pains you’re feeling right now, a relaxing trip to the spa seems like the only cure.

Prenatal massage is very relaxing. It helps relieve muscle pains and promotes blood flow. If your pregnancy is an uncomplicated one, you can do massage as often you wish. Otherwise, you have to consult your doctor.

Some massage therapists, though, are still quite hesitant when handling pregnant clients. True enough, the best time to get a prenatal massage is during the second trimester and onwards, when the dangers of the first trimester have passed.

When you do get one, avoid lying on your back (although your therapist will probably know about this one already!). Massage will be focused on certain pressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, legs and feet. You can also turn on your side so the therapist can massage your back.

Avoid massaging directly on your spine or on area with varicose veins. You shouldn't ever experience pain during the massage.
