Anemia in pregnancy
Anemia in pregnancy

Anaemia is caused when the body is not getting enough iron or certain vitamins in diet.

During pregnancy the body needs to produce additional blood to carry oxygen to the tissues and to the unborn child. When pregnant ladies have anaemia, the body is unable to do it, which affects the baby’s growth.

A haemoglobin test on a sample of blood usually confirms if one is anaemic.
