Do you enjoy your early morning walks? Make it a daily habit during pregnancy. Known as the sunshine vitamin, one of the key nutrients in pregnancy is vitamin D. It helps absorb calcium, which is needed to develop your baby’s heart, brain, bones, teeth and muscles.
While vitamin D is naturally produced by the human body, it needs sunlight. If you live in a place where there is not enough sun, or if you have darker skin, your body may find it difficult to produce enough vitamin D.
Make sure you get enough of this crucial nutrient from natural sources like:
• Canned fish
• Milk, yogurt and cheese
• Fortified cereals
• Orange juice
• Egg yolk
