Congratulations, you’re 26 weeks pregnant! This milestone marks your last week in the second trimester and the changes are more overwhelming than ever! Expect more pronounced back pains, heartburn, leg cramps and insomnia at this time, which will get worse as you enter the third trimester.
Don’t be scared, though - these are all normal, just like the rest of your symptoms during pregnancy. The trick is knowing what triggers these symptoms, so you know how to prevent them. Or when they do strike unexpectedly, you know how to manage them.
Practice Kegels exercises and do back stretching to prepare your pelvic and back muscles for delivery. Eat small, frequent meals to combat heartburn and sit up for a while after eating.
You should also establish a regular habit of sleeping and lie on your left side for a more comfortable sleep. And of course, keep yourself hydrated and healthy.
