As you cross the midpoint of pregnancy, you should still prioritize your health.
Monitor your blood pressure.
Women who have no history of high blood pressure can develop pregnancy-induced
hypertension, which is dangerous if left untreated. Tell your healthcare provider if
you experience blurred vision, dizziness and swelling.
Stay hydrated.
Drinking plenty of water every day helps prevent oligohydramnios, a dangerous
complication when the amniotic fluid gets too low. Adequate hydration also supports
your blood volume.
Go high-fiber.
Since pregnancy causes your intestines to relax and slow digestion, you should add
more fiber to your diet to avoid constipation and hemorrhoids. High-fiber food
include fruits, vegetables, oatmeal and whole grains.
As you are making your way through the second half of your pregnancy, you may begin shopping for newborn essentials to welcome your baby’s arrival.
