Varicose veins
Varicose veins

Another change brought by pregnancy is the appearance of varicose veins, the spider-like blood vessels found on the legs.

The added pressure from your growing baby can make it more difficult for the blood vessels in your legs and feet to return blood to your heart. As a result, they stretch and expand causing varicosities.

To prevent varicose veins from developing, you should try the following:
- elevate your feet whenever you can;
- avoid crossing your legs;
- do not stand for long periods of time;
- wear maternity support stockings;
- wear comfortable shoes with proper heel support.
