Halfway through your pregnancy, sleeping will get more uncomfortable.
Sleeping on your back is uncomfortable because the baby is pressing into your backbone. Also, uterus is pressing on your artery and restricts blood flow. Sleeping on your stomach will feel like sleeping on a ball which is growing:). If you sleep on the right side, then your liver will be squeezed, and you won’t be able to feel it.
Try sleeping on your left side instead, so that your baby won’t press too much on your artery. Left side sleeping will keep the pressure from stomach and liver, so you can have a good night’s sleep.
Sleeping on the left side is actually considered the best position as it allows maximum blood flow. In fact, when you go into early labor, nurses will put you on a left-side lying position to make you more comfortable.
You can also try to sleep with extra pillows: one between your legs, one behind your back and one under your belly. There are even pillows specially designed for pregnant women.
