Acne during pregnancy

Acne is perhaps the most unwanted sign in pregnancy. They often appear on the face but may also develop on the chest and back. Again, progesterone is the cause those pimples as it increases the secretion of oil. The good news is that acne will fade after pregnancy.

Unfortunately, you can’t control these changes when your hormones are in an overdrive. But you can try these tips to manage acne:

Go water-based. Read the labels, and make sure your skin care products are water-based and not oil-based. You certainly do not need the extra oil on your skin.

Use sunscreen. Sunscreen is your best friend when you go out. Sun exposure makes acne worse. Do a patch test first on your wrist to make sure you won’t have any allergic reactions.

Don’t pop! Squeezing your pimples will only make them worse. If you cannot resist, try using a mild toner as part of your skin care.
