As with other pregnancy symptoms, hormones make your gums swell and feel sensitive. You may notice that your gums bleed slightly when brushing your teeth, but don’t be alarmed because this is perfectly normal.
There are simple ways to promote dental hygiene and prevent bleeding gums during
pregnancy:
- Brush your teeth twice a day
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
- Use a soft dental flosser
- Use a tongue-scraper
- Swish with warm water
- Avoid sugary food
- Consult with your dentist regularly
