Stretch marks occur because the skin stretches so much during pregnancy. These often appear on fatty areas like the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms and breasts.
Is there a proven way to prevent stretch marks?
Hydration is the key
Basically, stretch marks develop because the skin loses moisture. The best measure
you can do, therefore, is to replenish the moisture loss. Do this by regularly
applying essential oils on affected areas. Most products contain sunflower, almond,
argan or avocado oil.
Avoid scratching!
Because the skin stretches, it can also itch. Don’t be tempted to scratch them,
especially at night - it will only make it worse. Apply more oil to itchy areas, and
wear cotton clothes instead.
Use anti-stretch mark products
If you have stretch marks, don’t panic. Just using one of the many
anti-stretch mark products you can help keep your skin soft and flexible. Apply it
regularly. Do it not just during pregnancy, but after giving birth. This
could help to fade the marks faster.
