As you approach the middle of your second trimester, you may feel some leg cramps.
What causes it, exactly? Though no particular cause is to blame, various factors are believed to trigger it. These include fatigue, compression of the vessels in the legs, and nutritional imbalance such as a deficiency in magnesium or calcium and an excess in phosphorus.
To prevent leg cramps, try the following tips:
- eat a nutritionally-balanced diet;
- avoid sitting or standing for long periods;
- do foot exercises;
- wear comfortable shoes without heels;
- sleep on your left side with pillows supporting your top leg.
