It may spark your interest that your baby’s eyelids are now formed. It is quite fascinating, when those eyelids were just small indentations on your baby’s face! At week 9, they are formed but are fused shut.

Those eyelids won’t open until about week 27 as other vital eye structures have to develop. Don’t worry, they will remain closed as the developing eye structures have to stay protected from the amniotic fluid.

It seems quite a long time before your baby fully opens its eyelids, but you’ll be surprised how fast time flies!
