The size of the embryo grows incredibly fast week by week. At week 6, your baby is about the size of a pomegranate seed. If you could look into your own uterus, you'd see the embryo with an oversized head compared to its body proportion.
Your baby’s features are also starting to form at this week. The dark stains will be the eyes, the openings will be the nostrils and the pits will be the ears of your baby.
The fingers are forming now, but feet and hands look like paddles. It is hard to believe, but the heart is already beating at about 150 beats per minute, which is twice as fast as yours!
Finally, your baby is making its first movements, but you can't feel them. Don’t be disheartened - you will get the hang of your baby’s aerobics-like movements in the second and third trimesters!
