The clock’s-a-ticking! Though a lot of pregnant women do not really give birth on their actual due date, you have reached the end of the line at week 42. Your baby just can’t stay inside your womb forever.
Expect your healthcare provider to monitor you and your baby frequently this week. You will also be informed of your birth options, such as labor induction, if your baby still feels a little cozy inside.
At week 42, your baby is growing bigger and bigger, unfortunately your birth canal can only stretch to a limit. This is the reason why healthcare providers won’t wait for more than two weeks after you’re past your due date.
At week 42, your baby is more than ripe to come out, so cross your fingers (and toes!) that you deliver soon. Good luck!
