You probably know by now that babies do show crying behaviors in the womb. If you do give birth at 39 weeks, you will definitely hear your baby cry. First-time mothers may ask, “Do babies cry at this age?”
Tears don’t actually develop yet at 39 weeks. With all the amniotic fluid your baby is surrounded in, the eyes are well-lubricated already. For newborns born at 39 weeks, don’t expect tears to roll down your baby’s cheeks just yet - the tear ducts haven’t opened at this point.
It will take about a month or two for you to fully see the tears, though it can be a little heartbreaking to watch! Make sure to wipe those tears and address your baby’s needs right away.
