Baby development at week 35
Baby development at week 35

At this week, your baby is about as heavy as a honeydew melon.

Your baby continues to gain weight as the brain grows and the bones harden. The skull, however, will remain soft to facilitate a smooth delivery through the vagina. The bony plates of the skull called fontanelles won’t fuse together anyway until about 9-18 months.

Meanwhile, fats are still developing under your baby’s skin, and will continue as your baby grows. These will give ample protection to your baby’s internal organs and regulate temperature as newborns may not handle thermal changes that well yet.
