Baby development at week 34
Baby development at week 34

At week 34, your baby is now about as heavy as a cantaloupe! Not too long from now, you will finally hold your baby in your arms!

Before that, your little human’s organs still have some more last minute developing to do. If you are carrying a baby boy, his testicles will have finally descended from the abdomen to the scrotum. If not, don’t worry! They do descend as your baby turns one.

Your baby’s nails are also growing fast, now reaching the tip of the fingers and toes. It is not uncommon for newborns to be delivered with already long nails, so better have a baby nail trimmer ready.

As fat continues to develop (yes, and it’s not stopping just yet!), your baby will pack on more weight. The cute face you have always imagined the moment you found out you’re pregnant is finally taking form now, as your baby grows rounder and plumper.

Meanwhile, the lungs and nervous system are now adequately mature, but they do continue to develop at this point.

If you give birth at this week, however, your baby will have a very good chance of thriving as the vital organs are already working. Then again, you may want to keep your baby for a few more weeks. Just hang in there!
