Building immunity

It’s true that as a mother, you pass on antibodies to your baby through the placenta and the umbilical cord. But your baby is also doing a good job of developing his or her own immune system, too!

By week 33, your little sweetheart immune system is now incredibly complex, many thanks to your antibodies. From now on, your baby’s immunity will continue to strengthen in order to prevent the likelihood of diseases.

Building a strong immune system for your baby, even while still inside the womb, is incredibly important. As your baby comes out, the protective power of your womb is lost, so microbes will take advantage of your baby’s very delicate state!

With a strong and healthy immune system, your baby is able to ward off infections well until adulthood. It’s amazing to think that even while still inside your womb, your sweetheart is already a little fighter!
