By now at week 32, you might already be told that your baby should be ripe enough to engage in the fetal position. It’s still unexplainable what exactly makes a fetus move to a head-first position, but nature does takes its own course, doesn’t it?
Now that you only have a few months left until the big day, it’s not surprising if your baby prepares for this, too! By positioning in the fetal position, your baby is in the most ideal presentation for a natural delivery. Once the head comes out, the rest of the body follows smoothly.
It is important for the head to come out first during delivery, as your baby needs to breathe in order for the respiratory system to start working. The baby’s head is also the biggest part of the body, so it is only right if it is delivered first.
If, by this week, your baby still hasn’t rotated head-first, don’t worry! Some babies like to take their time. Breech deliveries are not very common, and when they do get detected, your midwife or doctor will be able to provide you with other birth options.
