It is week 29 already, what other organs are developing at this point? Everything, actually! But you may want to focus your interest on your baby’s little peepers, as they are beginning to focus at this week, too!
Though your little resident can’t really see anything at this point, the eyes have developed so well that they can focus and even turn towards any bright thing shown directly to the womb.
It’s true that a baby’s eyesight, upon birth, is not very sharp. The visual acuity is around 20/400, a far cry from the 20/20 normal vision of adults! Newborns can only see objects a few inches away from the face, so fetuses obviously can’t make out anything inside the womb.
Remember that while your baby can’t see clearly at this point, the focus of the eyes is what matters. You may not see it work, but the fact that your baby responds to light stimuli is excellent proof that your baby’s sense of sight is on the right track of development!
