One of the most astonishing milestones your baby makes is the development of a unique sleep-wake cycle. This typically begins on week 25 but a pattern may be too subtle for you to notice. For now, you’re still getting the hang of your baby’s kicks and dives.
At such a young age, how does a fetus sleep and wake on its own? By week 25, the brain waves emitted by your baby’s brain are now actually very similar to a newborn’s. This explains the sleep-wake cycle of your baby, which will become more distinct as your pregnancy progresses.
Don’t be too surprised (or worried!) if your baby doesn’t reflect your own sleeping patterns. Remember that every baby is unique and that they develop on their own pace.
