Congratulations! As you grace your 25th week of pregnancy, you would be amazed to find out how much your baby has grown. Your little human being, at this point, has now reached the weight of an average pomelo!
Talk to me, Mama!
As your baby’s hearing continues to develop, he or she may now learn to respond to
your voice by giving you a soft kick in the belly. Definitely a heartwarming
feeling, but don’t get too worried if you don’t feel any movement every time you
talk to your baby! Remember that all babies are different and have a unique
developmental pattern.
The startle reflex
Another important skill your baby develops this week is the startle reflex. You may
notice this as your baby jumps in reaction to a car alarm. The startle reflex is a
fight-or-flight reaction, and it is a crucial life skill for newborns.
Lung development
Your baby’s lungs are still too premature at this week. They are developing slowly,
but surely. In fact, your baby’s little lungs are now producing surfactant, a vital
substance that will assist the lungs to expand when your baby takes the first breath
of life!
