At week 23, your baby continues to grow and develop at a rapid rate. By now, your little wriggler will have the same weight as a large mango, but maybe a whole lot sweeter.
Your baby's brain is still growing rapidly. The eyes continue to develop and may flutter open occasionally, but they do not really open until the next couple of weeks. Your baby’s lips become more distinct now, which you will excitedly kiss in the next months. Your baby’s skin will also receive more pigmentation and may even form fat deposits underneath.
Although the lungs do not fully mature until almost term. The blood vessels in your baby’s premature lungs are now developing, which is important for the ability to breathe outside the womb.
Since your baby is gaining more weight, expect stronger and more frequent movements. They are so strong you can actually see indentations on your abdomen! This is probably the most exciting milestone for this week. Take a video if you wish!
