Early hair and lanugo
Early hair and lanugo

Week 14 is an incredible milestone in your baby’s development inside your womb, at least when it comes to physical attributes, that is! At this week, your little wriggler might be sprouting early hair.

Though you can’t expect a head full of hair just yet (you would have to wait until the end of the third trimester), a little hair growing on your baby’s body is awesome development already. Though still fine or scarce at this point, some hair may be found on the head and brows.

Farther along your baby’s body, very fine and small hair are also sprouting from the thin skin. Called lanugo, these are very important for providing warmth to your baby who is swimming in amniotic fluid.

Don’t worry, though - lanugo disappears just before birth. If you see them, they go away shortly after birth. Remember that your baby will put on fat later on pregnancy, so lanugo will eventually serve its purpose.
