A rule of thumb in counting kicks: all babies are different, and each one grows, develops and moves according to his or her own pace and comfort.
You shouldn’t be complacent, though. When is the fetal movement pattern considered not normal? When should you call the doctor?
Sudden change in movement.
If you notice anything unusual with your baby’s movement patterns, call your doctor.
Be vigilant!
Don’t wait and see.
If you have not felt any movement at all in an hour or felt less movements than
usual, do not wait for the day to pass before calling your doctor or going to the
hospital immediately.
When in doubt, seek help.
If you’re still unsure if your baby’s movements are normal, you can always call your
doctor for assurance and advice. Trust your instincts, there’s absolutely nothing
wrong with seeking help if you’re in doubt.
